ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE

[IFe do not hold ourselves responsible fur opinions expressed by correspondents.] ' ■° _ (TO THE EDITOR OF THE DUS’ST AN TIMES.) ... Sir, —In the Wakatip Mail of the 4th inst., appears a paragraph stating that on the opening of the Invercargill section of the railway to the Lake that, “the mealiest of Her Majesty’s subjects will have an opportunity of celebrating the opening of the line.” I must therefore congratulate the E Htpr of the Mail on the opportunity thus afforded him of seeing Invercargill, and treating the Southland people with one of his celebrated perorations. I have no doubt that the Southland people will recognise the “meanest” of Her Majesty’s subjects when they see him. —Yours, etc., One of H.M. Subjects. Queenstown, July Bth, 1878.
