The usual monthly mooting was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening last the 2nd instant.
PresentMi Samuel Welsford, Mayor, and Councillors Beck, Clark, Auckland, and Waddell.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The correspondence (inward) from the Colonial Treasurer, asking to ha inforaicd the amount contributed by Clyde to the Indian Famine Relief Farm, and from the Solicitor to the County, notifying the Borough not to interfere with the Bridge Toll House, as it was included with the Bridge in the sale to the Government, was read and received ; and the outward, was adopted.

After a deal of discuss on over the letter from County Solicitor, it was decided that the Mayor deal with tho matterashe thinks best.
The Public Works’ Committee recommended that Coquet street bo gravelled. Resolved that the Committee be empowered to employ George Murray, dray and two horses in carting gravel on to Coquetstreet.
Cr. Clark said that the Government had notified that the petition for dissolution of the Borough would date from 11th June, and accordingly it no counter petition was presented to the Governor before the 11th of September, the Borough would then be dissolved: such being the case he thought it was very desirable that this Councd should decide on the nature of the Trust in which to repose the Town Hall and other properties for the benefit of the Town—he explained that two courses were open to them, to appoint a special Trust by Act of Parliament, or to hand over everything to the Library Committee—the latter, he thought was the simplest, less expensive, and the best, as the Trust would be an annually recurring one. As the subject was one requiring consideration, he would suggest that this meeting stand adjourned till Monday evening next, and after their meeting, that the Council, as a whole, attend the meeting of Subscribers to the Library Fund, and enter into an explanation of this Council’s deliberations on the question of forming a Trust. Resolved : —That the suggestions of Cr. Clark be adopted. Tho Mayor said he thought the present time was very opportune for giving expression to their opinion of Mr Pyke, the member for the District. It will be remembered that some months ago he suggested a similar thing, but as the Bridge negociations wore not then completed, it was thought better to defer it; he thought tho present time was favorable.
Cr. Auckland proposed : - That this Council record a Vote of thanks to Vincent Pyke, Esq., M.H. R. for the Dunstan District, for the very general interest he has displayed in all matters connected with the Borough of Clyde. Seconded by Cr. Beck. —Carried.
The meeting then adjourned till Monday the Bth instant at 7, p. m.
