An adjourned public meeting will be held at Alexandre, on Monday evening next, the 17th inst., for the purpose of receiving the report of the Committee of gentlemen appointed at a previous meeting, to select suitable areas of land in the district for settlement. As the question to be discussed is one of the most vital importance to the welfare of the district the attendance should not alone be numerous, but should be composed of representatives of every section and from every part of tho district. To merely point out the available areas will avail but little—what is wanted is an unanimous expression of opinion that land is required, and a determination to move every power to have the want supplied. It must be patent to all that without the means are afforded of settling the population on the land that the district will gradually and surely decline in wealth and importance, consequently it behoves all who have vested interests to assist in the movement so earnestly taken in hand by the residents of Alexandra.
