DUNSTAN DISTRICT GUN CLUB.

—o— The members of this club met on Saturday last, the 25th instant, at CJyde, and had a capital day’s sport. The attendance of shootists was good, and the birds being strong and lively put their opponents on theirmettlc. The first match, for a silver cup, for which 10 entered, was won by Mr Bonrcbier, of Hawksburn, be killing S birds out of 10 at 21 yards, Mr R. Stewart scoring 7 birds at 27 yards. Some of the birds beiug very strong, though mortally hit, managed te get beyond the boundary before falling, thus altering the position of the scores. Dalgleish, who killed all his birds, Mr John Handyside scconb, Hvith fifur birds. DCNSTAN DISTRICT CRICKETCLUB. The cricketing being now over for the season, it ic only necessary for us to compliment the Club for the creditable maimer they have performed.. Out of five matches they won four, one being a County match— Vincent v. Maniototo—the latter eleven being chosen from the members of the lilt. Ida Club and players in the district generally, and was played at Lauder Station, the residencebf J. Handyside, Esq., who prepared a very good pitch, and entertained the teams in a sumptuous manner. Two matches were played with the Roxburgh Club, and two with Queenstown, and it was at Queenstown were defeated. We append below the different scores of players but will hero state that special mention must be made of Messrs Williams and Sams foi their excellent howling j also, Mr Sweet for his uniform good fielding. We trust that the .attendance will bn large, as wc have reason to believe that there are a sufficient number of gentlemen in the County able and willing to cstadlish a really good Corps, and that Government will see their way to give support to the movement.
