FRIDAY, MAY 31, 1878. TELEGRAPHIC INTELLIGENCE.
Beneath the rule of men entirely just the ten is mightier than the sword.
(FROM OCR CORRESPONDENT.) Dunedin, May 30th. The following telegram is dated London, May 27th Congress is to meet on June 11th, under the presidency of Prince Bismarck. It is officially Stated that peace prospects are improved. The Australians played a match with the crack Marylebone Club, and inflicted a signal defeat. The scores were—Marylebone : First innings, 33; Australians, 41. In their second innings the Marylebone team only made 19 runs, leaving an easy victory for the Australians, who won by 9 wickets. Spofforth took 11 wickets for 20 runs, and Boyle 8 wickets for 17 runs. The attendance was very large and the victors were heartily cheered. The Melbourne Argus’ special telegram confirms the above.
