A duo to the mystery has apparently been discovered. At about two o’clock in the morning, Miss Greenwood, the principal of a school on the Terraco, hearing a noise in the house, went downstairs to discover the origin of it. On searching about the house she came across a man who was creeping along without any boots on. Miss Greenwood, who had provided herself with a revolver prior to going downstairs, immediately levelled the weapon at the man and asked him what ho was doing there. Cowed by her demeanor, he pleaded to bo let off. He said that he had got in at the window, but that he had taken nothing. He asked leave to take away a book which he had brought with him, but this mpie.st Miss Greenwood declined to accede to. She then opened the door and told him to go. On looking at the book the lady found it to contain portraits of some members of Mr Lewis Moss’s family. This has since been identified as one stolen on Sunday night. Y'esterday afternoon Detective Farrell arrested a man named Smith on suspicion, and lie was brought before the magistrate and remanded for the production of evidence.
