—o— The usual Monthly Meeting of the Committee ofManagement was heid in the Library Hall, on Monday evening the Cth instant. Present : -B. Naylor, Esq., (President) W. L. Simpson, Esq., (Vice President) and Messrs Attfield, Auckland, Holt, J. E. Stevens, (Treasurer) and G. Fache, (Secretary) The minutes of previous meeting wore read and confirmed. The inward correspondence including letter from the Colonial Secretary’s Office, acknowledging list of subscriptions for tho quarter ending 31st March, IS7B ; from Mr J. Allen, Manuherikia, informing the Committee that he had made a donation of a bag of onions, value 305., was read and received. The outward correspondence was read and adopted. The Visiting Committee’s No. 1 Report, to the effect that the Institution had been visited three times during the month, and everything found correct, was road and received. No. 2 Report recommending payment of accounts for salaries and supplies for the Month of April amounting to LG9 5s Id was read and adopted. Tho Visiting Committee was instructed to inquire as r.o the ordering of port wine at 30a per gallon and to report to next meeting. The Treasurer’s report as follows was read and received. Receipts. P. Beck was elected a member of the Visiting Committee, vice Mr C. Attfield retiring by rotation. The President stated that tho Visiting Committee had exercised their discretion under rule 01, and recommended the admission of Mrs MT.ough'in into tho Institution for the purpose of accouchement; ho explained that the case was an exceptional one, and was not to be taken as a precedent, and furtherthat it was on the distinct understanding that any extra nurses required were to be paid by Mr M‘Loughlin, and that the Resident Surgeon’s private practice was not to be interfered with The Secretary laid on the table the Certificate of Water-race granted during tho month in favor of the Hospital for irrigation and domestic purposes, and suggested that action should be taken to have tho race put in repair, and further that arrange ments should bo taken to have the race put in repair, and further that arrangements should bo made with Mr Oliver, through whose private property the race was constructed. Resolved :—That the Visiting Committee he empowered to make arrangements with Mr Oliver for the use of the water for . domestic purposes alone ; also, that they get the race surveyed in afresh course, and ascertain the cost of constructing a new race, and report to the next Meeting of tho Committee. Notice of Motion by Mr Auckland :—I hereby notify that at the next Meeting of the Committee of Management I will bring forward a Motion respecting the establishment of a Lving in Ward in connection with the Institution. A vote of thanks to tho Chair terminated the proceedings. A Meeting of the Bazaar Committee (the other Members of the Hospital Committee also present) was now held, when M r J E, Stevens (Treasurer) sahl that he was not quite prepared to give a full report of tho proceeds of tho Bazaar held on tho Saturday previous, on account of the whole of tho Gifts not, being as vet disposed of, however, ho could inform the Committee that the proceeds, when everything was realized would ho about Ll 10. Mr W. 1,. Simpson said it was the most successful affair of the kind he had ever attended and redounded greatly to the credit of the Committee who had carried the affair out, and also to the people of Clyde and ; the immediate neighborhood for their supI port; he said on account of tho unfavorable weather there were no visitors from a disI tanee present, therefore the whole thing I rested with the people of the immediate j neighborhood, who had done their part we 11. From the large amount, realised it was evij dent the gifts were of value, and ho had . great pleasure in proposing a heartv vote I of thanks to all the Ladies and Gentlemen for their very liberal presents, at the, same i time be would move a vote, of thanks to tho I Clyde Brass Band for their services during ) the day—he further thought Mr C. Attfield ' for the great, trouble ho had taken was enj titled to special mention ; he said Mr Attfield had not, only been liberal in his gifts, hnt had devoted a deal of time in preparing gifis. The proposition was put and carried without a dissentient voice. Mr Attfield returned thanks for tho kindly expression of opinion, hnt looked upon . what ho had done as only a duty. ! The mooting then broke up.
