BLOCK IX.
(to the editor of the duns Tan, times.) Sir,—l see a letter in the Cromwell Argus from a Sydney 11. Jenkirison which does not get rid of the fact that on tho 13th of February, at tho Waste Lands Board proceedings, I did nob mention Block IX.. (That the Cmmniesioner did not snub me. If Block IX. was referred to how is it it was not. mentioned ? That the Daily Times of the 14th was not a faithful report of tho Waste Laud proceedings. I commend the following for the reporter’s special benefit.am, &c., Jons Marsh. Cromwell, March 13, 1873. “Tho story is tsld of a woman who ficely used her tongue to tho scandal of others, and made confessions to the priest of what she had done. He gave her a ripe | thistle-top, and told her to go out m various directions and scatter the seeds one i by one. Wondering at,, the -penance, she ■ obeyed, and returned and told her coai lesser. To her amazement, ho bade her go back and gather tho scattered seeds ; ’and i when she objected that it .would be-im- , possible, ho replied that it would be still more'difficult to gather up and destroy all evil reports sbo had circulated about others. Any thoughtless, careless child can scatter a handful of thistle-seeds before the .wind in a moment, but the strongest and wisest man cannot gather thfcm again.
