The Dunstan Times.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8M 1878.

Beneath the rule of men entirely just the PEN' is MIGHTIER than the sword.

From a perusal of tho report of the Vincent County Council it will he seen that the Council decided to rote subsidies to enab’o the Alexandra Punt and the Clyde Rri tge to bo thrown open to free traffic. This niece of intelligence we are assured wi'l be acceptable to all classes of the community.

A Sub committee lias been appointed by the Managing Committee of the Duustau District Heap til to arrange for holding at an earlydate a Fancy Bazaar and Gift Auction, in aid of the funds of that Institution. From the Treasurer’s report laid before tho last meeting, and which is published in the report of the proceedings of the last meeting in another column, It will bo seen that a something is necessary to be done. The debit balance is now £124 8s 5d ;in other words the Institution is in debt for Salaries and Supplies in that sum. For a very long time past everything has worked with such beautiful nicety that there has been no necessity for a direct extra call upon tho district in behalf of the Institution, but now that the occasion has arisen, we hope the people will rise to tho occasion, and contribute in kind that liberally as will shew they still recognise the value of tho Institution, and that it is their desire to keep its doors open. We feel justified in saying that the smallest contributions will bo most thankfully received by any of the members of the Committee, in whose hands the affair is trusted.
