For this rare there was a walk-over for Oberofi. Newmarket. Xantiopo 1 Swede 2 This was an exciting race throughout. The weather was splendid. There was a great crowd abont'the Grand Stand, but the genera] attendance was not near so good as previous years. For the Maiden Plato there was a walk-over for'Oherou. For the Cup nine started—Punga. Oberon, Virginia Colt, and Luna being scratched. After three false starts, Davidson got well away with Templeton, Chancellor getting to the front, Hippocampus was third to the distance; this was maintained for the first mile, when Titanic rushed into the third place, Cloth of Gold last. —Hippocampus gradually falling "back. From this point there was never a doubt of tho old horso, who won as he liked, Titar.ia was a good second, and Ariel third. Lonclands, with which Redwood had declared to win with was fourth. Time, Bm. 595. Champion Stares Atlantic 1 Captain Douglas 2 Publican’s Handicap, Trump Card I Isaac Walton, 2 Oberon 3 Punga was a bad fourth, Isaac. Walton led till near the straight. Time, Om. IGs.
