Beneath the rule of men entirely just file PKN is MIGHTIER than the SwoiiD.
The Election, to fill the vacancy in the Connty Council created by the resigns tionofMrWilliaavPrasar, tikes place to morrow the 16th instant. At the nomination three candidates presented themselves in the persans of Mr W. G. Rees, of Galloway Station jMr James Samson, of Alexandra, and Mr J. McGninniss, of Butcher’s but it will bo seenbyadvertiaementthat Mr W. G. Rees, has been reluctantly compelled to withdraw from the contest ■having been hastily summonsed from the district on urgent business., consequently between Mr Samson and Mr McGuinnia the honor rests. Between the two gentlemen there'ds really but little choice, both being local men, with a thorough knowledge of the district and its requirements, also, they are well known to the electors. Our ,ta*k tiiereforo'iu dealing with tie Subject is shorn of many of its difficulties. Either ; gentleman would, doubtless, fill with credit to themselves and theEarnscleugh riding; the position and the question alone remains which is to bo the man. As the ratepayers arc the most interested we -will leave it with them them to decide.
