CO-OPERATION.

(to the editor of the dunstan times-) Sir, — Would you kindly permit me through tho medium of your columns to make known a few remarks, and thus give a reply to some of the many questions that are being daily asked by the inhabitants of the surrounding districts in reference to tho Co-Operative Ctore Company now in course of formation at Alexandra. In the first place the Company-is'to be formed somewhat on the same basis as the Dunedin Company, with a few amendments, to adapt it to'the working of the district; furthermore, the operations of tho Company are not-to be confined to Alexandra alone, but are to extend through tho whole of the Dunstan district; for this cause the promoters trust that ail local jealousy will be dropped, and every one that can will come forward and assist in this enterprise for the common weal. You are not expected to vest large sums of money in tho undertaking. on the contrary, the object of tho projectors is to distribute tho shaves through a large number of shareholders, and thus guarantee a large amount of support. The success of tho Company is almost assured, as there are those among the promoters who have had considerable experience in CoOperation} in Otago. The main meeting takes place upon Saturday evening at 9 p.m., in the Library Hall, Alexandra, when we hope to see a large meeting and the subject well ventilated, after which the formation of the Company, wtiicli will be the first substantial check to tho old regime of storekeepers and their exorbitant prices now ruling upon tho Goldfields.—l am, &c., Co-Operative. Alexandra, February 12, IS7S.
