Eucalypti Essence S T ET the Public take notice of a few -S—i facts pat forward for their information in this intimation. They may bo worth their study, and repay perusal in enlightening them upon a subject of practical utility. The History of the Essence’s Discovery. The Australian anti-fever tree—that is the blue gum, or eucalyptus globulus— has now spread its fame throughout the world, hut there are many who do not properly estimate its splendid qualities. It has been estimated that the Australian blue gums, which stud the face of the Colony, contain about five hundred million gallons of pure volatile oil, that is the mortal foe of fever and ague. Every day in the year the forests of the colony are giving out and exhaling in the form of vapour, an aromatic fragrance to our breezes, and a health-giving essence to oar people. Tills fact is now recognised by all scientists in the world Its Claim as a Curative. ft has now become the fashion with the inventors of discoveries of remedial agents to claim something little short of infaliibi ity and nuivorsability of cure for their respective agents. Messrs Sander and Sons did nothing of the sort. They have confidence that th or essence possesses many virtues; hut the full extent of these they do not know yet. They are now collecting data, anil they are most careful and searching in performing this. It is quite sure then, that their eucalypti essence can f.eii-ly assert itself to ho a grand panacea for many of tha ills that flesh is heir to. In Scarlet, Typhoid, or any case of Fever, nothing will protect better against contagion than a few drops of the essence poured in the palm of the hand, and rubbed in, in order to liberate tbe vapors, or sprinkled over the clothes. The perfume will be noticed for a length of time, j Inwardly used, take three or four drops in half a tumbler of water. The essence effects a most surprising change of the whole constitution, correcting indigestion, and creat- ! ing a healthy appetite. For Children Attending Schools, the sam.o [ mode may be adopted. In Cases of Sickness, n few drops put into a saucer, and put into the room will, being [ an etherio essence, evaporate, and fiil the room with the purifying vapor. Are you obliged to Travel! A few drops occasionally rubbed on tin; body, will pro- ' tcot against any contagion you may be exposed to, in coming direct with sick persons. ■ or in sleeping in the same, room with, or in 1 beds occupied previously by sick persons. i All Hotelkeepers will do well to sprinkle ■ from time to time in drawers where linen is • usually kept, a few drops of the pure essen- • tial essence. It produces no spots whatever, ' as every particle cf it evaporates, and i nothing remains. In short, where a disinfectant is needed, I the pure essential eucalypti essence ought to ; bo the one you have recourse to, and no I family ought to bo without it. For all IVounds, Cuts, Hunts, Scoldings, Ulcers, and Cancerous IVounds, a piece ot linen wrapped round the suffering part, and moistened with a few drops of the eucalypti r essence, will stop all pain, and effect a speedy cure. In cases where a piece of linen cannot be applied, the moistening of the suffering part with the pure essence will do as well. . In case of Colds, moisten the nostrils with - a few drops and inhale the vapour, and you - will feel immediate relief, and entire rid- > dance nf the heat. In all cases where (he Lungs may be A ffected, the above-mentioned process, continually repeated, will bo the best that can be - advised. 'I In severe rases of Toothache; of rheumatic e origin, the nnre essence may be applied on I the external nart of the face. I n cases of I nflennmation of the. Eyes, apnly the pure essence to the outside of the eyelids * . Headache, and Rheumatic Pains in the Head, arc positively cured aud removed by rubbing tbe essence on tbn affected parts.
