THE BLACKS CORRESPONDENT OF THE CROMWELL ARGUS.
(To THE EDITOR OF THE DUSSTAM TIMES-) Sir : — ln your last issue you were good enough to re-pubiish a letter of mine which originally appeared in the Cromwell Argus contradicting some very gross mis-state-ments (to call them by no harsher name) of the BlacSrs “Own Correspondent of that paper. At the conclusion of my letter, 1 expressed an opinion that any further information from the isame quarter should he received with due caution, and only published after making carafnl inquiry. In the teeth of this the Editor of the Argus has this week, without care, caution or enquiry inserted a lengthy tirade of abuse and malevolent falsehood from the same quarter. I cannot condescend to make further reply, nor will I again, upon any occasion take notice of anything which appears in the columns of a paper capable of such palpable discourtesy as your contemporary has evinced in this matter.-''-My object in writing to you now is merely to assure the ratepayers of the County,, that the statements, equivocations and insinuations of the Argus’ correspondent are altogether fnnndationless and unworthy of belief.— Yours, &c., Vincent Fyke, Chairman. Cromwell, January 16, IS7S.
