EUCALYPTI ESSENCE.
Wo have received from Messrs. Sander and Sou, of Sandhurst, Vic torla, with the request time we should give due prominence to same, a mass' of printed mutter ou a medicament dis colored null manufactured by that firm, viz . a preparation from the leaves of the gum tree, or Essential Eucalypti Essence. The papers include The History of the Oil’s Discovery, Testimonial from the German University, and Opinions of the Pres*. We give the following extracts from the papers received : ITS CHARACTER. The essence may be almost summed np as to its character, when it is described as etheric and volatile. It is a condensation of those exhalations of the gum leaves which permeate our Austral-atmosphere and make it one of the most health-sustaining character in the universe. The essence being a principle ot itself, cannot in the strict sense be analysed, because it is incapable of sub division. The only proof of its being a pure etheric essence is its solubility in spirits of wine. But medical authorities who have chemically examined the components of the gum, and of this essence declare that it contains much that stimulates the vital particles of the human blood and that increases the health-giving functions of the common air. One of the best features in its character is that it absolutely requires no cave in its use, but may be rubbed on external sores, taken internally, exposed'to the common "atmosphere until it is absorded, or poured on fine linen or the most delicately tinted paper, without leaving so much as a stain behind. In short, while it is in so many cases extremely beneficial in its use, it is absolutely innocuous •in all. ITS CLAIMS AS A CURATIVE. It has now become the fashion with the inventoi sor discoverers of remedial agents to c'aim something little short of infallibility and universality of cure lor their respective agents. Messrs Sander and Sons do nothing of the sort They have confidence that their essence possesses many virtues ; but the, full extent of these they do not know yet. They are now collecting data, and they are most careful and searching in performing this. It is quite certain then that their eucalypti essence can fairly assert itself to be a grand panacea for many of the ills that flesh is heir to. FURTHER TRIUMPHS OF THE EUCALYPTI ESSENCE. We frequently refer to the cures effected by the Eucalypti Essence, but we can safely say that we have always had good reason for bringing this remedy before the public, and therefore consider ourselves perfectly justified, as our desire is upon all occasions to give publicity to the essence for the benefit of the public, being fully persuaded of its efficacy. A case has lately come under our notice, however, which we hasten to publish, as it proves to be a new triumph over a class of disease never before treated, and the value of the discovery cannot be over-estimated. Every sufferer must feel a deep interest in a person who lias the power in his hands of alleviating pain, even of a tempoi’ary nature, but in a case like the one we refer to below, when the question is whether the patient may ho saved from mutilation <-.f the limbs, and probably from death itself, then the interest must be all the more intense. The facts of the case referred to are these:—Alfred Eaabe, six years of age, residing at Ironbark, had the misfortune to meet with an accident on the 25th of June last, when he was hurt on the right knee by an axe The father of the hoy at once procured the services of some of onr leading medical gentlemen, and took all pains to have the injury treated effectual! r. However, the patient grew gradually worse, suffering extreme pain from wound-fever and as the boy lost his appetite, he daily became weaker. The doctors then, after they were treating the patient nine weeks, came to the conclusion that there was no hope of saving the leg, and decided that the only means of preserving life was to amputate the limb. Tim afflicted father at this juncture called upon Messrs Sander and Sous, re'ating the particulars of the case and inquiring if there was any prospect of recovery in using the Eucalypti Essence manufactured by them. Messrs Sander and . Sons expressed their conviction that the wound-fever could be removed by the application of their essence and advised the father to try it, as at 'east no harm could be done through the application. The essence was used for the first time oo the 18th of August. Since that time the wound-fever has been completely staved, and all pains have loft; the patient’s appetite and sound sleep have returned, and now, after a fortnight’s application, the hodv of the patient has regained its usual strength. The swelling extending over the whole leg. from thigh to toe. has been driven hick ns far as the wounded knee. All that Messrs Sander and Sons had anticipated. nannly. curing the wound, fever and "iving strength, has been effected, and the properties that are ascrib'd by them to their manufacture, which makes it invaluable in all cases of wounds, have been attested. Minor properties possessed by the essence, which make it effective as a preventative against inflaruraatio.is, as a euro
