WASTE LAND BOARD.
At the usual weekly meeting of the Waste Lands Board hold on Wednesday the 3rd instant, the following business of local interest was transacted:— Mr Mouat said that an application to purchase by Choo Fan at Roxburgh had been referred by the Board to the local Corporation. There was a Mayor at Roxburgh, but no Corporation, and it would probably be two months before a Council was elected. He, therefore, asked that Cheo Fan’s application might be referred to the District Land Officer. The request was complied with. Ranger Hughan reported on the letter (if George Young with reference to Stewart M‘Comb’s illegal occupation of the mining reserve between section 27 and the Tuapeka River, with a recommendation that Mr M'Comb should be proceeded against. Mr Hocken appeared for the Committee, and Urged that he should be allowed to remain in occupation. Mr Strode said that the Board was of opinion that the Ranger’s report should be acted upon, and that the law should be strictly carried out. The District Land Officer at Clyde recommended that Andrew Young should receive a lease for sections 1 to 4, block 111, Taviot district, under section 4, subsection 5, of the Waste Lands Act. —The request was granted. The District Land Officer at Clyde recommended that a lease should be granted to Francis Woodhoues of sections G. 8 and 10, block 111, Teviot district, under section 54, sub-section 5, of the Act.—Approved. Consideration of letters from Mr W.Turton, with reference to the non-payment of rent on runs in the Wakatip distiict due by Messrs Evan and M'Morran, was further adjourned.. Mr W. Tnrton, on behalf of Mr Butement applied to be allowed to purchase section 2, block 111, Dart district. The application was refused. It wa° mentioned that land >n the district will be dealt with shortly, and that the applicant would receive due notice.
