ALEXANDRA DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE.

—o The second appearance ot the above Company of Amateurs took place in the Town Hall, Alexandra, on Friday evening last, the 28th ult., the proceeds of which were on behalf of the funds of the Dunstan District Hospital. The pieces selected for the occasion were the farces of “An Unwarrantable Intrusion”, and "Cherry Bounce”, and the burlesque of “ Villikins and his Dinah.” In the first of these farces the characters of Snoozle and the Intruder were well carried out by Messrs Bees and Williams. This was followed by the burlesque of “ Villikins and his Dinah.” This (piece was played on their first appearance, and we may say though well up in their parts on that occasion, there wss a perceptible improvement on this their second performance. The following was the cast— Grumbleton Gruffin, (Mr Forrest); Baron Boski Bumble, (Mr Bets); William Villikins, (Mr Whelan); Dinah Gruffin, (Mr Williams). The make up of the latter was extremely good, and we may sconscientiously say that the acting of the whole of them was really above the average, when we come to consider the short time the Club has been in existence. The entertainment closed with the farce of "Cherry Bounce,” which was very well put upon the stage, the characters being as follows—Mr Oldrents, (Mr Forrest); Gregory Homespun, (Mr Whelan); Gammon. (Mr Rees); Spinage, (Mr Williams); Mrs Homespun, (Miss Di Gruffin). The character of Messrs Gammon and Spinage were capitally represented; in fact, we may say that the whole of the performers deserve great praise for the very excellent manner they acquitted themselves, not only in their acting, but in the knowing of their parts. The Alexandra Brass Band played seven 1 times during the evening with their accustomed skill. The evening's amusement concluded with a dance. We haVe much pleasure in slating that theie Was a Crowded house, but have not heard the exact sum realized, but we shall in our next issue be in a position to give the same.
