(from our own correspondent.) Wellington, Sept. 6th. The Central Railway Committee resolves that the Cromwell and Strath-Taicri route opens up tho largest area of unsaid land fit for settlement, and best meets tho requirements of the mining population. A public company can be formed in Dunedin to construct, provided concessions of land are made. That it is the duty of the Government to construct line ; failing this it is absolutely necessary, in the interest of settlement, that the work should ho proceeded with hy Counties or a private company. In either case, to accelerate progress of work and diffusing employment throughout the district construction should he commenced at each end, and at one or more points in the centre simultaneously.
