ALEXANDRA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

■ I ..T-o : OoiiT A special meeting of tho Council was held on Thursday, August 23rd. Present—Tho Mayor (in tho Chair),; and Councillors Thoyers, Simmonds, and Maokorsey. Tho minutes of last meeting were road. The outward correspondence was road and approved. Tho inward, consisting of a letter from tho Chief Secretary, asking for a return ot tho cost of Valuation for tho purpose of assessment; from tho Dramatic Club, asking for the Hall on Friday, September 28 ; from tho Town Clerk, tendering his resignation of tho office. Cr Mackersoy moved, seconded by Cr Simmonds, and carried—That the Town Clofik supply tho Government with the returns asked for. Moved hy Cr Theyors, seconded by Cr Simmonds, and carried—That the application from the Dramatic Club for tho use of tho Hall on Friday, September 28, be ■granted. Resolved, on the motion of Or Mackersoy, That the Town Clerk write to tho Chief Surveyor requesting him to give instructions to the District Surveyor, to supply this Council with a tracing of the land surveyed by him for the Corporation adjoining the Corporation dam. Moved by Cr Simmonds, seconded by Cr Mackersey, and carried—That the resignation of tho Town Clerk bo not accepted. The Town Clerk requested that his resignation should lay on the table and bo considered a sufficient notice of the resignation of his office. Moved by Cr Theyors, seconded by Cr Simmonds, and carried—That the time for receiving tenders for tho removal of the ante-room be extended to Wednesday, September 20. Moved by Cr Simtnoncls, seconded by Cr Theyers, and carried—That the Town Clerk draw the attention of the constable to the number of pigs that are daily running at Urge within the Borough, also to the filthy state of the slaughter yards. Moved by Or Mackersey, seconded hy Cr Simmonds, and carried-That the tender from Que Shing to lease the Corporation water race for the sum of L 42 per annum be accepted. Accounts to the amount of L 37 17s Cd were passed for payment. The usual vote of thanks closed the meeting. •
