Admiral Hornby and General Dickson 'have'inspected the lines 'a't Gallipoli, and have reported to MrLayard. The Porte informed Mr Layard that the Ottoman Government would complete the forts at Gallipoli, and increase the garrison sufficiently to defend itself. London, August 9. The motions on the 'Eastern question were withdrawn in both Houses, it being considered injurious to the public interests •to discuss them.
