THE ELECTIONS.

On Saturday last the contested Elections for Mayor for the various Boroughs took place. At Clyde Mr Samuel Welsford was the successful candidate, he securing the honor over his opponent, Mr W. Auckland by ten votes, the total polled for each being 37 and 27 respectively. On the following Monday, through some miserable blunder there wore but two nominations for the Office of Councillor for South Ward, Messrs Feraud and Williams between whom tho contest will be on Tuesday next. For East and West Wards there were no nominations, we ascribe the circumstance more to a mistake of omission rather than commission, and which will have to be rectified on Tuesday next, the day appointed for fresh nominations. To the Mayoralty of Cromwell Mr S. N. Brown was elected, he beatingliis opponent Mr John Marsh by ten votes.
