“ Five or six months of married life,” remarks a veteran observer, “ will often reduce a naturally irascible man to such a condition of angelic Immilitv that it wouldn’t be safe to trust him with a pair of wings ” How little is known of what is in the bosoms of those around us ! We might explain many a coldness, could we look into the heart concealed horn us ; we should often pity where we hate, love when we curl the lip with scorn and indignation. To judge without reserve of any human action is a culpable temeritv, of all nnr sins the most unfeeling and frequent.
