The Dunstan Times. Beneath the rule of men ENTIRELY JUST the PEN is MIGHTIER than the SWORD. FRIDAY, JULY 13, 1877.
To-morkow is tho day appointed for the nomination of candidates for tho office of Mayor for tho ensuing year, and as yet only ono candidate (Mr J. D, Foraud) has nublicly signified his intention of soliciting tho position ; two other gentlemen Mr S. Welsford and Mr W. Auckland), however, are spoken of as being aspirants for civic honors. Of tlie three gentlemen we have no choice, as each has been in a greater or lesser degree connected with Municipal institutions from its infancy, and have been Jong residents in tho town, consequently are acquainted with the duties of tho office, and with the requirements of the town. Up to tho present tho office has been filled most satisfactorily; works of what fairly may he termed of magnitude have been initiated and carried nut. There arc still works of equal importance to be done, wo
therefore hope the choice of the citizens will fallen the one mosr fitted for the office. We shall hope to hear the expressed views of the candidates on tho duties of the office before tho day of election.
