ALEXANDRA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

—o— An ordinary meeting of the Alexandra Borough Council was held in the Council Chamber on Wednesday last, the 4th iust.' It was moved that the outward correspondence he approved, and the inward received, consisting of kttor from the - linister of Justice in reply to protest from he Council against abolishing the Alexandra Licensing (Court) District; letter bom Christchurch City Council calling a Reference of delegates at Wellington re the 'overnnient deducting from the subsidies or charitable purposes ; letter from Terry an( l party, accepting offer of Council for W * ter ra ce for two months.

I’ reposed by Gr Theyers, seconded by ■Cr Maokersey, That tha Town. Clerk acknowledge letter from City Council* Christchurch, stating that this Council sympathise with tho movement, but are not in a position' to send a delegate at present,—Carried. Proposed by Cr Maokersey, seconded by Cr Cameron, That tho Town Clerk write Terry and party, acknowledging their letter, •id to draw their attention to the race being broken away at Cbatto CreekCarried, Proposed by Cr Maokersey, seconded by ; Cr Theyers, That the Works Committee carry out the various repairs and improvements commenced, and cause the street to bo cleaned. 1 Proposed by Cr Simmonds, seconded by Cr Mackcrsey, That all the dukes ho put in the walls of the Town Hall according to specification.—Carried. Proposed by Or Theyers,’That Messrs 1 Dalton and Spied, contractors, he paid pro- • gress payment amounting to L9o.~Carried.' Proposed by Cr Cameron, seconded by Or Theyers, That L 5 3s 6d he .voted for ex- 1 ponses incurred in petitioning the Govern- , meat against the abolition of the Licensing District of Alexandra.—Carried. Proposed by Cr Mackersey, seconded by Cr Simmonds, That the Town Clerk write, to the Cohatable requesting him to put a stop to the boys throwing stones within the municipality. —Carried. Resolved that all goats not registered before the first of August next be destroyed without further notice. A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
