VINCENT PYKE, M.H.R. :a Reply to Eequisitionists. . To Geoeoe Fache, Esq , •J DEAR SIR, — I liave to aoknow- ; ledge your communication of 16lh inst., forwarding Requisitions . signed by 400 Electors of the Dunatan District, calling upon me not to resign my seat in Parliament. ■' I should indeed have been unworthy to represent the District if I had weakly yielded to the demands of a minority of the Electors, a large number of whom, I am assured, already regret that they should have been induced, by the interested misrepresentations of a factious clique, to ask me to resign—not because of any political tergiversation on my part, but merely o because of the location of the County r Council Offices. But the voluntary hj Requisitions of the majority ran scarcely be over estimated. It will strengthen my hands in Parliament when I am striving to promote the interests of the District, and it will de- _ prive my opponents of the power of saying that I do not possess the confidence of my constituents. In truth, I have sustained a plebiscite of the Electorate, equal in its effect to a new 5 election, and the verdict of the man jority has been unmistakably in my . favour. Thus sustained by the people . whom I deem it an honour to serve, . I shall retain my seat with the resolve ; to forget the injurious conduct of ray . adversaries, and to r remember with B gratitude the kindliness of my friends s and’supporters, 1 Pray convey to the Requisitionists b my sincere thanks for the aid which 3 they have so promptly rendered in the K hour of difficulty, and me to be, My dear Sir, Your obedt.
