—o — A special meeting of the Council was held in the School-house, Blacks No. I (Opfair) on Tuesday last the 17th instant. Present Vincent Pyke, (Chairman) and Councillors Davidson, Greenbank and Pitches, The Chairman said the business of the meeting was the consideration of Tenders : —The following were then opened. Forming and gravelling 149 chains of road at Bald Hill Flat. C. Dalton, L 90 0; J. Drummy, L 1035 los Od ; M‘Connochie and H. TohillLßsl 15s Od. Maintenance of main road from Cromwell to Kirtleburn, (the Western boundary of County). W. Kibbon, L 149 14s 6d ; N. Campion, L 149 0s Od ;R. Maxwell, L 125 0a Od ;J. Emmerson, Ll2O 0s 0:1. Maintenance of main Toad from Alexandra Kio the .'Southern boundary of the tyM ‘Connochie and Tohill, L 289 15s 6d. Formation of 294 -chains of road from Blacks No. 1 (Ophir) to Blacks No. 3. R. M'Nally, L 159 0s 0J ; M‘Connochie and Tohill, Ll4l 7s 6d. Making 15' chains of road by Mr Glass’s farm, Ida Valley. H. Sinnamon, L 96 15s 0d ; J. Blakeley, LOO 0s Od ; J. Glass, L 75 Os Od. Making, gravelling and faseining 20 chains of road by Mr Thomson’s farm, Ida Valley. Griffiths Thompson, Ll5O 0s 0L The now resolved itself into Committee to consider the above tenders. On resuming the following report was read and adopted. That the Tender of Messrs M‘Connochie and Tohill for forming and gravelling 149 chains, Bald Hill Flat, LB5l Iss Od be accepted. That no Ten ler for maintenance of road from Alexandra to County boundary be,accepted ; and that the Executive Committee be authorized to make arrangements to keep the said road, also road via Conroy’s Gully for the remainder of the year in repair, either by contract or day labor. That the Tender of J. Emmerson, for maintenance of road, Cromwell to Kirtleburn— Ll2O, beacceptel. That no Tender for forming road, Ophir to Blacks No. 3 be accepted, and that the work be done by day labor. That the tender of Mr Glass for making road by Mr Glass’s farm, Ida Valley, be accepted. That no Tender for making road by Mr Thompson’s farm be accepted, and that fresh tenders he'oalled. •■Appropriations were made for the following works, and the Executive Committee were empowered to proceed with the works either by tender or otherwise Maintenance of road from Spring Vale to Rough Ridge ; construction of continuance of pack track from Cromwell to Rooky Point. 'Tlie following sums were voted'to cover outstanding liabilities Cromwell to Wanaka Road, L2O ; do. to Hands Road, L 25. LelterVas read from the Manager of the Cromwell Quartz Mining Company, asking for the sum of LIOO to keep the road from Bendigo township to the reefs in good order and condition f or twelve months. Resolved—That the Executive Committee he authorized to expend, during the tfrrrent year a’sum not exceeding LSO, on the'said road as a subsidy to ho paid in the proportion of LI for LI expended by the Company. Letter from Mr Barnard was read asking for the return of deposit on contract not completed. Resolved—That request bo not complied with, as it would be constituting a bad precedent. The following Schedule of roads classified under the headings Main and Branch roads was read and agreed to ; it was also agreed that the width of all roads be 66 feet, for the purposes of protection, not that they have to be made that width. Cromwell to Nevis and Bannockburn. —Clyde to Nevis at Shepherd’s Creek.— Cromwell to Nevis via Carriokton.—Nevis to Upper Nevis —Wanaka Main Road to Bendigo. —Bendigo to Logan Town.-Ha-wea Main Road to Lindis Pass.—Rocky Point to Hawea.—Newcastle to Makarora Valley.—Albert Town to Lindis Road.— Albert Town to Hawea block.—Makarora Valley to the head of Lake Hawea —East side Lake Hawea.—Luggate to Cardrona County boundary.—Cromwell to Rocky Point, East bank of Clntha.—Kirtleburn to Cardrona.—Alexandra to Montsre.—Alex■au Ira to Watson's.—Clyde to Wai Keri Kci-i Valley.—Watson’s to Rongh Ridge.— Blacks No. 3 to Stronaeh’s and Rough Ridge.—Blacks to junction with Rough Ridge road.—lda Valley Bye-roads —Chatto Creeik to Tinkers.—Tinkers to Drybread and Lander Creek.—Drybread to Blacks.— Tiger Hill to Tinkers.
