BRIDGE OVER THE MOLYNEUX AT ALEXANDRA.

(TO THE EDITOR OE THE DUNSTAN TIMES.) Sir, — Now that the Tuapeka Railway is finished I consider that it would bo judicious on the part of the Government to erect a bridge over the Molyneux, at Alexandra, being On the main line of road from Tuapeka to Alexandra, Blacks, Tinkers, Drybread, Welshman’s, Dunstan Creek, Hill’s Creek, Ida Valley, &c., &c. It cannot with justice bo [considered a piece of County work, because it would be, if erected, hr the use and benefit of all classes, from the wholesale merchant in Dunedin to the miner on the Goldfields ; and I consider it is the duty of everyone to support the endeavor to get the bridge built. The probable cost of erecting such a structure across the Molyneux at the place before mentioned would be about LBOOO, but the benefit accruing therefrom would far outweigh the expence. To obtain the above from the Government I think it would be advisable to draw up a petition, and get it signed by every resident between Tuapeka and Hill’s Creek, including the intervening townships ; by every wholesale merchant in Dunedin, and every carrier on the road ; and then I have no doubt that, when our Member, Vincent Pyke, Esq., presents it, with his recommendation to -the Government, that the request will be granted.—Yours, &0., Wm. H, Hastf.dt.
