BLACKS COUNTY ASSESSMENT COURT.
There were very few appeals to he hoard at tho Assessment Court held at Blacks on Friday last by Mr Warden Simpson, R.M., tho valuator for the three Southern Ridings having been more reasonable in making his valuations than the valuator for Hawea Riding. The objections representing the pastoral interests were Messrs Davidson, Matakanni; Stronacb, Moutere ; Fraser, Earnsclengh : Rees, Galloway Station, and Cargill and Anderson. Mr Fraser sent in a letter withdrawing his objection, conditionally on its being recorded that he did not admit the correctness of the valuation, and that it should not be regarded as a bads for future valuations, Mr Davidson and Mr Stronach also withdrew their .objections on the same conditions. Mr Rowlate, solicitor, appeared for Messrs Cargil and Anderson, who objected to the valuation of that portion of their Moa Flat Station within the County as being excessive. There was some doubt as to the Speargiass block having been deducted from the cross acreage, and proportionate allowance having been made for the 2000 acres comprised therein. Judgment was given for the amount of valuation. Mr Rees’ objection was heard in full. The assessment was for L 0,300, and after a lengthened hearing, and evidence taken, the valuation was reduced by L3OO. An objection by the County Council against the omission of valuation on the Alexandra punt was dealt with, and tho assessment for the punt and the landing stage within tho County was fixed at LOO. The other cases consisted only of tho amendment of technical mismistakes and omissions. The Chairman appeared on heha'f of-tho County.
