CRICKET.

In the London Sportsman, of November 9, are given the highest scorers of IS7C, or those who during the last season obtained over 100 runs. W. 6. Grace, the champion, of course, heads the list. He has obtained three-figure distinction six times. Once he made 400 (not out), 314, SIS (not out), and five times scores ranging between 100 and 200. E. M. Grace lias also soured largely, and has seven times achieved over 10'J runs in an innings, an 1 once he ma !e tho enormous score of 327, not out. G. F. Grace, the third of this wonderful cricketing family, has thrice been rewarded with century scores, his, ligures being 213, 192 (not out), and ICG. W, R. Gilbert, a cousin of the Graces, has also been scoring very largedy. Against Cambridge University he made 205 (not out), and followed up this success with four other scores of over 100 runs each. Charlwood, the Sussex batsman, who is at present in the Colonies, has twice for his county scored over 100, and I find that -Tames Lillywhite, the captain of the English Eleven, who is not looked upon as much of a batsman in Victoria, has on two occasions scored bis century. Who will say Lillywhite is a “ tail ender” after that ? D. Campbell, an old East Melbourne man at. present iu England, also figures amongst the century men, having scored 115 when playing with the Harlequins against the Royal Engineers. I also observe that the same player for hia University—Oxford—has obtained an average of 15 runs per innings, obtained in eight innings. Among tho English bowlers Shaw and Lillywhite carry away tho palm, and on their fuotsteps closely treads Southerton.
