ARROWTOWN.

(from OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) The latest piece of news, here is that hf'r Warden Reethorn resigns the charge of this Wakatip district to resume the duties of Resident Magistrate at Napier, This step u'p the ladder of promotion'h’as certainly been well deserved, both from length of service and ability for office. As an impartial administrator of justice I think Mr Reel ham has few equals, while his findings have but very rarely been upset in the Superior Courts. Although Mr Beetham has only had temporary charge of the Arrow division of the Wakatip for a few '■Weeks past, that is, since'the 'departure of Mr Stratford oh leave of absence, he, however, had charge of it some years since between the removal of Mr Warden Broad and the appointment of Mr Stratford, besides, he is an old resident of the district, and although, perhaps, not always seeing things as others saw them he always did his best to advance the interests of the place generally, and we shall have many things to thank him for in after y ars ; for these reasons I think there should be some public recognition of Mr Beetham’s services. Tt is said that Mr Warden Robinson, of Kaseby, will be ’his successor. 1 learn that the newspaper Company are getting things into shape for a start. It is wonderful how these people have been procrastinating of late, any business person conld have started the thing long since, and cleared off a lot of the purchase money of the plant. The news from the reefs is cheering—The Cross Beef is of course the first favorite, and it is no exaggeration to say that tile “ All Nations ” and “Maryborough ” claims are something splendid, not better was ever found in Otago, while, theihorc these claims are worked they improve in proportion. The “Homeward Bound” are pushing ahead with their machinery and will be ready ti crush in a. fort night. The ‘ 4 Garibaldi ” and “ Victor.,Emanuel ” are getting out stone, so is the 44 Main Lode —these will be good Companies I have every reason to believe. Feeble efforts are being made by the Government to "make the road as far as Macetown, but not a move is made beyond that. Next to a diary the most difficult thing to keep is a load pencil. A printer invariably gels but of sorts when ho roaches the bottom of his case. An American paper says that the Exhibition is closed on Sundays on religious grounds. Twenty thousand people haug around the fences on secular grounds. Floriline ! It removes all unpleasant odour arising from decayed teeth or tobacc# smoke. “The Fragrant Floriline,” being,' composed in part 0f Honey and sweet herb,-, is delicious to the taste, and the grcit st' toilet discovery Of 'the ago.
