MR PYKE'S REPLY TO MR FORREST.
1, Wellington, October 24. Mr W. F. Forrest, Alexandra, Otago. My dear Bir. 1 do myself tbe honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 9th instant. . You do not inform me whether you have been instructed by any portion of the constituency—at public meeting or otherwise—to forward that communication. I am therefore induced to regard it merely as ad expression of your individual opinions. I must decline to be drawn into a personal discussion on matters of such weighty importance, and content mvself by remarking that your information appears to be singularly i correct, wherefore it is notsurprising to find that your conclusions are very decidedly erroneous. For further answer permit me]to refer you to my letter to the Chairman of the Alexandra Public Meeting as published in the local newspaper. I am, &c., VINCEST PVKE.
