The Edinburgh correspondent of the Otago Daily Times thus .refers to Mr B. L. Fin-jeon’s play, “ Home, Sweet Horne,” winch is an adaptation of his Christmas Tale, “ Bread and Cheese and Kisses." It has been produced at the Olympic' Theatre. London, hut has proved anything hub a success. The Athenreum of June 2 t says of the play that “ it has every fault that at tends ordinary adaptations of its class;’’ that “derision awarded scenes intended to bn pathetic,” and that Mr Farjeon “is at sea as to what is and what is not capable of being, rendered dramatically effective.” The Times of the same date is even more severe. It says :—“ His characters in the play, though of the most common nature, are hurried into the most uncommon situations, wherein they exhibit the most uncommon behavior, and make use of* the most uncommon language The story, as told by these characters, is altogether at variance with probability. There is a variety of sihrations intended to he dramatic, hut appertaining more to the ridiculous ; the language, where it would he eloquent, is extravagant; and the pathos, of which, as the title of the piece implies, there is intended to he a considerable leaven, is tedious and unreal.” This very strong language of condemnation | on the part of so moderate a journal ; as the Times, is a sufficient proof of ' the worthlessness of the piece,
