The-usual monthly meeting of the Clyde Town Council, to have been held on Wednesday evening last, lapsed for want of a quorum, the Mayor and Councillors Joss and Weis ford alone putting in an appearance. The very marked apathy that has been exhibited by some of the members of the Council is, to say the least, extraordinary, and deserving of censure The amount of work in hand that has a'eumulated—work that is-of the utmost importance to the welfare of the town—demands immediate attention. We would suggest to those gentlemen who, hy their continued absence from the Council table prevent the work from being attended to, if they do not feel equal to the occasion to at once resign, and give the opportunity to others who aro able and willing to undertake the responsibility. We unhesitatingly say that through the apathy of the Council during the past few months, the town has lost more headway than it can, under the most favorable circumstances, hope to regain in as many years.
