CLYDE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
A meeting of the Committo w was held in tho Library Hall on Tuesday evening last, tho Bth instant. Present: —Rev. J. Dewe, (in tho Chair) and Messrs M'Oonnochie, Joss, Auckland, Naylor, Holden and Tyrrell. ;•> _ The minutes ot the previous meeting wero read and confirmed Mr M'Oonnochie, one of tho comittee appointed at tho lastmceting to canvass for subscriptions, reported that L 32 15s had beou collected, and about L2O more promised. A vote of thanks was recorded to tho collectors for their list. * Accounts amounting to L 26 2s were passed for payment. Mr M'Connochie suggested that the Library should bo open throughout the day. After discussion it was decided that the existing arrangement, of opening tho doors on stated evenings only, for the present be adhered to. Mr M’Oonnochie was authorised to order tho New Zealand Herald, Wakatip Mail, and Bow Bells ; also, to write and ascertain if the Dunedin Athenajura have any-dupli-cate works to dispose of. Mr Charles Holden was re-appointed Librarian. Messrs Ivl'Connoehie and Joss were empowered to purchase two new lamps. Resolved, That the use of the Library Hall be granted to the Forester’s Lo lge on payment of L 4 per annum. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
