ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the above-named Council was held on Wednesday, June 21st. Present—Mr Samson, Mayor; and Councillors Beresford and Theyers. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Outward correspondence was read and approved ; and the inward received. A telegram was read by the Mayor from Vincent Pyke, Esq., asking an expression of opinion from the Council on the sale of large blocks of land, and the sub-division of runs. Resolved—“ That the 'Mayor be requested to send the following telegram : “That this Council arc opposed to the sale of largo blocks, and are in favor of the sub-division of runs, believing that the inhabitants of the district aro unanimously of tho same opinion.”
Cr Beresford moved, seconded by Cr Theyors, and carried —“ That nine chains of tho main road, opposite the Manse, be gravelled, and that tenders bo asked for the work, and sent into tho Town Clerk before the sth July.” The amount of J. Thomson’s contract for pitching a channel in Limerick [street was possod for payment. The usual vote of thanks to the Chair concluded tho meeting.
