DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

—o— The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held in the Committee Room, Town Hall, Clyde, on Monday the Bth inst., at 8 p.m. Present—Jas. Haalett, Eaq. (President), W. L. Simpson, Esq. (Vice-President), the Rev. J. Dewe, Messrs Naylor, Holt, Attfield, Beck, Cambridge, Auckland, John Mellor (Tinker’s Gully), W. J. M’Guiniss (Butcher’s Gully), J. E. Stevens (Treasurer), and Geo. Faehe (Secretary). The minutes of previous meetings, held on 3rd and 4th April were read and confirmed.

Inward and outward correspondence were read, received, and adopted. Visiting Committee’s report No. 2, recommending payment of accounts amounting to LSG 14s Id, was read and received. The Treasurer said he had carried out the instructions issued him at the last meeting, and had published the names of some of the defaulters, but he had not heard from any of them, and now awaited further instructions.

After discussion, and considering the means of some, a further instruction was given to the Treasurer, viz.; to proceed against those who were in a position to pay. The Secretary now read applications from Drs. Stewart, Button, Lake, and Emcrt for the position of Resident Surgeon, vice Dr A. T. Thomson, resigned ; also was read a number of testimonials.

Resolved—That the election of surgeon be by ballot. A bnllot was taken, which resulted in a majority of votes being in favor of Dr Button, who was declared duly elected. Rev. Mr Dewe was elected a member of the Visiting Committee vice Mr C. Attfield, retiring. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
