ROXBURGH.

—o—(FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.). April 5, 1875. At the Resident Magistrate's Court, hold hero on Tuesday, the 4th inst., there was nothing of interest. In the Warden’s Court, however, there was some little excitement over tho nine applications made for section 17, block 1., Teviot District. Mr D. H. Morvyn lodged a number of objections, and ultimately succeeded in obtaining tho land, and bis success met with general approbation. The Government have sanctioned a Board of Wardens for the Teviot Commonage to act in conjunction with the Municipal Council, who have received the necessary instructions from Mr Thomson, Sheep Inspector. Mr W. C. Hodges sold by public auction this day a quantity of household furniture, together with a number of horses and cattle, and realized fair prices. I believe it is that gentleman’s intention to hold monthly sales of cattle and horses as soon as a suitable yard is built. The weather of late has been exceedingly changeable—some days showing the approach of winter, and others again being excessively warm, which may in some measure account for the amount of sickness which has been prevalent here. The late fall of rain has risen the Molyneux about a foot, which, a tew days ago, was at a low level for the season of the year ; however, all the claims are in work—tho water supply having improved—and are turning out very remunerative in many cases.

The buildings in course of construction in Scotland-street - are fast approaching completion, and the new store of Messrs Mackay Bros, has just been commenced next to the Bank of Rew Zealand. All our masons and carpenters are fully employed, in fact, there seems to he plenty employment for all, and generally speaking, things are improving with us.
