CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Council was held in tho Council Chambers on Wednesday evening last the 2nd instant. Present, —B. Naylor, Esq., Mayor, and Cyuncillors Welsford, Joss, Fache, Beck, Moore and Hastie. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence was read, received and adopted. The Mayor said he had during that afternoon received a dozen of starlings from the Curator of the Acclimitazation Society, four however of them were dead, the remainder he had liberated. It was resolved, That tho tender of T. Hannan, for construction of road to Wai Keri Valley as agreed to by the District Engineer be accepted. A long discussion now took place relative to the Water supply to the Town, as it appeared to be necessary to take some steps to ensure a constant flow of water to the Town, as no pne of the Council knowing what steps to take, it was resolved, That the whole matter be explained to Mr F. J. Wilson, and that he be requested to give his advice. Accounts amounting to L 46 5 2 were passed for payment. The audited Balance Sheet for the year ending 1875 was laid on the table, and ordered to be advertised. The Public Works’ Committee were instructed to have the now Council Chamber made habitable by the next meeting night. The Mayor said he had had no official intimation of the result of tho deputation from the Council to the Provincial Government, re the completion of approaches to the bridge, bnt he understood from James Haz'ett, Esq., that the Government recognised their liability, and that tho work would shortly be done. Tho meeting then closed.
