Mr Feraml has succeeded in producing AROMATIC TONIC BITTER WINES, which are not only agreeable beverages, but also have excellent medicinal qualities. The following is Professor,Black’s report “ University, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand Laboratory. Class—-Beverages. November sth, 1875. I have examined for Mr J D. Feraml, of Monte Christo, < lyde, Otago, two sample' of Aromatic Tonic Bitters, with the following result No. 827 is a sherry colored, and No 828 is a port wine red colored liquid ; th.y are both perfectly transparent showing the purity of the water and other substances employed in r heir manufacture These two beverages have a slight acid chemical reaction, and possess an agreeab’e cool bitter taste, blended with a sensation of sweetness, arising from the saeharine matter of the fruit of which they are tire fermented extract. 1 have also examined the aromatic and other flavoring substances used by Mr Feraml in their manufacture, and from the proportions in which they are blended villi the fruit wine, they must be pronounced perfectly safe, ami free from anything hke deleterious properties. I consider this wine, therefore, an agreea ble and perfectly safe bev rrage, and when diluted with three or four times their bulk of water, they will make a good coolum summer drink. JAMES G.
