THE THOROUGHBRED HORSE, ARCHITECT, Will travel this Season in the Dunstan and Cromwell Districts, and will stand at Mount Pisa Station. A RCHITECT is a rich bay with Y black points, stands 16 £ hands high, with great substance and quality, and he lias proved himself a sure foal getter. He was bred by John Field, Esq., of Calstock, Tasmania, and his stock in that island have turned out remarkably good on the turf, as hunters, and as we : ght carrying hacks. “ Mechanic,” a two year old colt by “ Architect ” ran well at the last Hobart Town meeting in the Railway Stakes, although just off ship-board, having been shipped to Lyttelton, where owing to the want of due clean certificates from the port of shipment he was not allowed to land, although pronounced free from disease by competent veterinary Surgeons at Lyttelton, and his owner had to ship him back again Architect’s sire “ Peter Wilkins” is the sire also of the “ Quack ” winner of the Melbourne Cup ; Benvolio, winner of the Sydney Derby ; “ Flying Dutchman,” the hero of the Australian Cup of 1872 ; “W. F.,” the hurdleracer, and other horses—and is full brother to “ Rose de Florence,” the dam of “ Marybyrnong ” (the most fashionable sire in Australia) “Ferryman,” “King of the Ring,” &c. YOONG SCUD is a dark ebesnut, three years old, stands 16J hands, with good bone, and handsome as a picture. He has proved himself a sure foal getter, having seived a limited number of mares last season and none of them missed. YOUNG SCUD was got by the farfamed thorough bred horse Scud, out of Young Currance Lass, by Barber ; grandam Curranee Lass, by Whalebone out of Windsor, the property of John Jones, Esq., of Cherry Farm ; great grand dam Windsor was imported from Valparaiso, by John Jones, Esq., thus showing some of the best blood this side the Line. ROYAL DUKE, (The Property of THOMAS MEE) WILL Yisit surrounding Districts once, and will serve Mares at Forest Farm, near White Horse Hotel, Blackstone Hill District. ROYAL DUKE is a pure bred Clydesdale, stands 17 hands high, possesses great strength of hone, firm action, beautiful symmetry, and is of a bright bay color ; he also has proved himself a sure foal getter. Royal Duke won the first prize when a three year old colt in Dunedin ; and the second prize against all comers at the Glutha. At the Agricultural Show, Dunedin, he also gained the first prize as a three year old colt. One of his foals shown in Tokomairiro the year before last gained the first prize against numerous competitors. Royal Duke was got by Champion, (well known to be the best horse imported to this Colony), out of the celebrated mare Jessy, imported in 1863, by Messrs Emmery and Straghan, from Tasmania. The same year she gained the Taicri Agricultural Society’s first prize for the best colonial bred mare, and the second prize for the best draft mare at the show, beating Mr Nimmo’s black mare imported direct from Scotland, and the following year took prizes both in Dunedin and the Taieri.
