ORIGINAL POETRY.

—o— Tub Drybread Races. It ia at the Drybread Races, where the prizes are hut small, Ami unless you are a squatter, you might act not at all ; To the winner of the Hospital Race, they have promised a silver cup, And when it was won fairly, they would not ghoe it up. I went to the stewards to know the way I had to do, And asked about some penalty, to see if it was true ; They said the weights were then declared, ami posted up outside— So you had just make no delay, and get a man to ride. Polly won the race, like she did the year before; The owner then of Tartar said, she should have carried more i But as he had as steward acted, at the racecourse on that day, He should have spoke before the race, and then I’d have got lair play. I thought it was a swindle, before the race did start, By the ugly way that Tartar ran you could see he was’nt smart; Though he belonged to a squatter, who lives not far from hero, "Who should have turned out a better horse, as the wool is getting dear. There ia one advice I give my friends, where ever they may be, If they come to the Dry-bread Races, a swindle there they’ll see If they chance to win a race, and a squatter do be there, A protest he will eater, and the money will declare. I don’t follow up horse racing, or anything of the kind ; Still, the Hospital Cup I won so fair will never leave my mind ; I have run my marc tor it, and sho won it honestly, So I think that they arc justified in giving it up to mo., Michael Samiioh,
