—o— Papa ; “ So you’ve failed in your examination again : you must bo very woodenheaded.” Son: “ Yes, pa, I’m afraid I’m afraid I’m a chip of the old block.” The gigantic clock exhibited by Mr Benson at the Exhibition of 1802 has been purchased for St James’s Cathedral in Toronto. The chimes of this clock were a modification of the celebrated Cambridge chimes. The penalty of popularity.—The poet L ongfellow has so many visitors at his residence in Cambridge that the cars stop at bis door, and the conductors shout “ Longfeller’s,” as at an ordinary station. The following choice epitaph may bo found in a New Jersey churchyard : “ Here lies, stranger, a father spiff’d From a stage coach, and thereby killo’d ! His name was dohn Skyes, a maker of iron horse-mangers, Slain with throe other outside passengers. Weep not, for the business is carried on by James Sykes, his son and heir.”
