GARDEN CALENDAR.

FEBRUARY. Kitchen Garden.—lf any operations recommended for last month remain unfinished, they must no longer be delayed. Make the last sowing of turnips for the season early in the month. Sow early cabbage in a coo 1 , shaded spot; also curled greens and spinach. Rhubarb usually makes stronger growth at this season than in spring, and growth will be accelerated by a top-dressing of short manure being placed over the roots, and a little guano applied during moist weather will repay the outlay'. Two or three leaves ought to be left on each Rhubarb stool, as too bare cutting tends to weaken the plants.

Fruit Garden. —Trained tiers -will require attention. See that the ties of grafts are all removed. Thin raspbery canes, to admit light and air to those intended for bearing next season.

Flower Garden.—Dahlias and hollyhocks will require strict attention as to staking and watering. A good mulching of manure placed ove'- their roots will prevent evaporation, and, produce rapid growth. Propagate by cutting the pctunca, verbena, calceolaria, geranium, antirrhinum, fuchsia, ageratum, &c. Roses may still be budded, and cuttings of the China and noisette class will root freely if put into a cool shaded spot. Keep the green fly in check by frequently syringeing. Set cuttings of scarlet and other geraniums. Renew old geraniums by cutting down and by shaking the sod completely away from the roots, and re-potting in small sized pots, in rathor poor light soil ; set them under glass until they have again started into growth.
