Dun'edik, Nov. 19th. No Tender yet accepted for Spottis Creek Bridge. The cake of gold from the Cromwell Company, which weighs 1200 ounces, is being exhibited in Mr Hislop’s window in Princes street Cutting, and is creating much interest. Some machinery for the above mentioned Company left town to-day, per avaggon. Tickets for the Dress Circle of the Theatre for the evening of Madame Arabella (toddard’s Concert were sold within one hour after they were issued. The Tararua from Melbourne arrived at Hokitika on the 17 th. The Argus has the following report of the Melbourne Cup Haricot, dr at; I’rotos, second ; Diver, third. Had the boy who rode Diver been strong enough, he would have run the winner very hard. Only a few bets were made on Haricot, his victory was not popular, the betting against him was fifteen to one. and he wen easily by a half dozen lengths. Fourteen others started. When all chance of winning was lost, Lorliue was not pressed. The Oaraaru Agricultural Show was opened to day, there was a very large attendance. There are twelve acceptances for the Auckland Handicap. Weights—Tambourini, ten stone ; Yatterina, nine stone.
