THE CLYDESDALE ENTIRE HORSE YOUNG PRINCE CHARLIE WILL travel this Season in the Clyde, Cromwell, Alexandra, and Blacks’ districts. YOUNG PRINCE CHARLIE is a rich man, rising four years, old, and was got by Prince Charley. Dam, Maggie, an imported mare from Tasmania. Prince Charley gained Ist Prize at the Taieri Agricultural Show, as a foal, in 1864 ; gained Ist Prize at the Agricultural Show in 1865, as a one-year old ; gained 2nd Prize at the Dunedin Agricultural Show in 1860, as a two-year old. Ilia sire is the well known Old Prince Charley, of Australia. I (is dam Jessy, imported in 1863, by Messrs Emary and Strachan, from Tasmania ; and the same year gained the Taieri Agricultural Society’s Ist prize for the beat Colonial Mare ; and 2nd Prize for being the best mare in the yard, beating Mr Niramo’s Black Wave, imported direct from Scotland ; in the following years took prizes at th» Taieri aad Dunedin. ROYAL DUKE is a pure bred Clydesdale rising eight years old, stands I6J hands high, possesses great strength of bone, firm action, beautiful symmetry, and is of a bright bay color ; he also has proves! himself a sure foal getter. Royal Duke won the first prize when a three year old colt in Dunedin, and the second prize against all comers at the Clutlia. At the Agricultural Show, Dunedin, he also gained the first prize ns a three year old colt. One of his foals shown iu Tokomairiro the, year before last gained the first prize against numerous competitors. Royal Duke was got by Champion, (well known to be the best horse imported to this Colony), out of the celebrated mare Jessy, imported in ISC3 by Messrs Emmery and Stragh.au, from Tasmania. The same year she gained the Taieri Agricultural Society’s first prize for the best colonial bred mare, and the second prize for the best draft raaro at tbe Show, beating Mr Nimmo"s black mare imported direct from Scotland, and the following year took prizes both iu Dunedin and tha Taieri. Terms, £4. Groomage, 55.; payable at first service. Guarantees by arrangement ; and all demands payable to the Groom at the end of the Season. An enclosed paddock of 200 acres for marcs, free of charge ; strictest care taken, but no responsibility. SURPRISE, bred by John Hamilton, Esq., is by that well-known Clydesdale sire Thane of Clyde, imported to Southland by Hugh M’Lcan, Esq. Dam bred by A. Clerke, Esq.. Longford, Tasmania, and imported into this Province by the Messrs Clerke, Brothers, for breeding purposes on their farm. SURPRISE is a dark dappled bay, stands seventeen hands high, and is now rising eight years. He is a remarkably compact and powerful horse, with immense bone, fine fiat leg, une pialled action, and docile temper. He has proved himself a sure foal-getter, and his stock are not surpassed by the progeny of any horse which has ever served in the Southland district, where he has travelled three years in succession. SURPRISE took second prize at two] three, and four years’ old at the Invercargill Annual Show, against all comers. A paddock for the accommodation of marcs coming from a distance will bo provided at Wai Keri Keri, free of charge, without responsibility. The greatest care taken.
