WASTE LAND BOARD.
At the meeting of the Waste Lands Board held on the 7th instant, the following business of local interest was transacted : The report of the District Engineer was read on the improvements made by Marie in connection with his coal-pit at Clyde. Mr Gillies appeared for Mr Marie, whose valuators assessed the improvements at L 322 3s. 6d. The Engineer, in making his valuation, did not take certain drainage works into consideration, and fixed the same at LIS6.
Mr Strode considered that Mr Marie had been badly used,'and thought that he should be dealt with in a liberal manner by the Board. The following minute was recorded : “ To be put up by auction on the valuation of Chappie and Poole, as performer terms.” The Large Reserves.—Mr Fraser asked for information regarding the exercise of pre-emptive [rights on the large reserves which had been cancelled by the General Assembly during its recent session.
The Board' resolved that new notices should bo forwarded; to innholders who have not already exercised their rights in terms of Clauses 103 a and 103b. The Board then adjourned.
