The Cromwell Gold Mining Company. —ln this Company a change from ten to nine hours shift has taken place, and the stone at present being taken out is equally as good as that already sent to mill, and by the time tbo mill has crushed what is at present at grass, there will bo at least .1000 tons ready for the stampers, which, from reliable information will go at least five ounces to the ton. At present there is a whim at work at the upper shaft adjoining the Golden Link, and one whip near the Reliance Company, and the other whip between these two. The water is scarcely any trouble in the deepest shaft, which is down 260 feet.

Reliance Company.—The erection of the whim is now completed, and all hands are engaged lining up the shaft, preparatory for hoisting. They are down 265 feet, on very hard rock, but have not yet got the reef not being very far below. They have two we'l-dcfiued walla all the way down. A change in the working manager has occurred, Sir John Peirce, an experienced quartz reefer, having that appointment. The Lucknow.—This Company have got on what I term a mullachy reef, although it is only about two feet thick, with about two inches of quartz on the one side, but no gold is visible. Of late there has been only two shifts of two men each which is now altered to three shifts in the 24 hours of six men. CAR RICK. The battery aud plant belonging to Williams and party, of Conroy’s, near Alexandra, has been taken down for the purpose of being removed to the Garrick. The first load, which arrived at Cromwell on Wednesday last, was brought in by Messrs Drummy and Faget the contractors, who have undertaken the entire work for L 235, which includes the erection of the machinery upon the claim known as the Young Australia. The whole of the plant is now ready for draying andtthe contractors are under penalty bound to complete the job within three months Mr Drummy has had a deal of experience iu connection with the erection of batteries, aud is sanguine of completing the work within the specified time. This venture by Williams and party evidences their faith in the Garrick.
