A gentleman, talking to aSumlaysohoo l , asked the scholars why Simon was kept in prison. One of the teachers quietly prompted a hoy to say that it was for a hostage, and the youth, not quite catching the words, piped out, “ He was detained for postage.” Another African explorer, in the person of Charles New, has started from England to follow up Livingstone’s inquiries concerning the sources of the Nile. Mr New is a corresponding member of the Royal Geographical Society, and of the British and Foreign Anti.slavery Society.
