At Brisbane the celebrated “ Blondin ” has been exhibiting to crowded audiences ; the following are amongst tie many accounts of his success: —“ Four hundred persons went to see Blondin to-night. His performance was truly wonderful.—Blondin carried Mr Shepporson, stationer, across the rope yesterday. He gives a benefit for the Hospital to morrow.—Blondin last night gave a benefit for the Hospital, and the place was crowded. He walked across a rope with baskets on his feet and shackles on his legs.—Blondin at his benefit carried over an harmonium, and played a selection on the middle of the rope.”
A Dish for a Lawyer.—Suet. A Smifftakcr’s Toast. —“ He that is not a friend at a pinch is not worth a snuff.” V hy are Dogs like Joe Miller ?—Because they furnish wags with their tails. “Old age is coming upon me rapid I}-,” M the urchin said when he was stealing apples from an old man’s garden, and saw the owner coming, stick in hand. Everybody now-a-days is a “ lady ” or a ‘gentleman.” ASt. Louis paper recently informed its readers that “two gentlemen and a lady left for the penitentiary last night.”
