GARDEN CALENDAR.
August. Kitchen Garden,—This being the first month of Sprihgj all o i bushes that have not been pruned, ought to be] done, and ground not dug all turned over rough; if the ground has been rough dug last mon*h or during the Winter, it will be in good order for cropping, and may now be sown with onions, leeks, peas, beaus, early potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbages and cauliflowers, and salads of any sort. Rhubarb and sea kale ought now to be planted. ’
Fruit Garden.—Should any pruning be unfinished let it be done early, and all planting pushed on, whether fruit trees and bushes or ornamental and shelter trees and hedges. Where strawberry plantations have to be done let it be this month, in rows two feet apart and uw foot plant from plant.
Flower Garden—All bulbs hot already planted must now be done, and herbaceous plants and flower seeds continued to he sown. Edgings of box, thyme, rosemary, veronica, or other varieties, may now be put in. A row of sweet peas for early flowering should be sown this mouth, as they will be found very useful during the season.
